Hello all,
I just wanted to give an update on Kristin as of this morning. Dr.Karol said that the CAT scan shows that her leg needs to be lengthened 5cm, which translates: fifty days from Monday May 4th @ 1mm per day. Now, there is a slight bump in the road in that the left side of the bone has begun to fuse together. While right side of the bone was being moved, the inside was pretty well stationary and apparently continued to grow. Then, when the leg was straight there was a four day period of no movement before the lengthening process began. - As of now, the Dr. said that Kristin is to continue turning the screws and it is possible that the bone will "Pop" apart. (If so, it will be painful but there is a Dr. present in the hospital at all times who will help her) If the bone doesn't separate, Kristin will be X-rayed on Monday and scheduled for surgery to go in and cut the bone. Again, this is just a "bump in the road" but we covet your prayers.
Carla and Christa's friend, Kim Rohlmeier took her daughter, Jessica, along with Christa and Aubrey up to be with Carla and Kristin for the weekend. When I talked to Carla I heard discussion in the background about a trip to the mall.... That's all for now
Take care and God Bless,
Bill aka grandpa Cooley
